A Truck…and Tuition

“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget none of His benefits!” (Psa. 103:2); “The Lord is righteous in all His ways and kind in all His deeds.” (Psa. 145:17)

One of the joys of being here at seminary has been to see the Lord’s grace and providence in amazing ways! He is indeed our faithful, wise, and loving Father, and He is to be trusted and praised. Two blessings (among many!) our family has recently experienced reflect His lovingkindness and limitless power.

The other evening at my SemWives meeting, I approached the back table where ladies place things they want to pass on to others. There sat a gleaming red fire truck which seemed to have Ethan’s name on it. I could not wait to show him his new treasure the next day! Never have I seen my little guy so taken with something as that fire truck. He played with it, ate with it, would have slept with it if I’d let him. He showed it to his daddy, his brother, even the mail lady with shining pride. He treated it with utmost care, parking it carefully in a homemade garage at the end of the day. The truck truly was a blessing from the Lord to him.

A fire truck!

A fire truck!

Another blessing came yesterday, the day that the Spring Semester Schedule was released to all the seminary students. Alan glanced over it, locating the classes he knew he’d like to take…if he could. The ways things were looking for us, we were thinking Alan might need to sit out for a semester. Later that day, Alan received an email from the financial office notifying him that he had received an anonymous donation of money deposited to his school account. Alan stared at the note in disbelief. He remembered his prayer earlier that morning, one that echoed many similar prayers in recent weeks, “Father, please make a way…” God did make a way. Our hearts are once again humbled before Him in gratitude and awe. Our faith is small. His power is great. He brought us here…and He’ll keep us here.

“Every day I will bless you, and I will praise Your name forever and ever. Great is the Lord and highly to be praised, and His greatness is unsearchable. One generation shall praise Your works to another, and shall declare Your mighty acts…The Lord is good to all, and His mercies are over all His works.” (Psa. 145:2-4,9)
